IASO has adapted its IP Backup server software for use on Microsoft Windows servers. Until very recently, the IASO Backup Server software could only run on the IASO Backup Appliances, based on FreeBSD UNIX, and on SUN Solaris. The IASO software can now run on all Windows-supported servers and storage systems. This means more freedom for Backup Service Providers and end-customers, but also in many cases a lower initial investment because existing hardware and storage can be used for the backup solution.
